Filter, Reality - Chapter 6 by ~AshleyDisaster:iconAshleyDisaster:

Chapter 6:

The doorbell rang so many times, I had lost count. People were screaming, yelling, and laughing, I stopped paying attention, I stopped doing anything that didn’t involve this room, and Kayleigh. She had flipped me onto my back, resting her head on my stomach, kissing it every time I took a breath in,

“Do you think that chick is here yet?” I shook my head,

“I dunno, maybe.” She kissed my stomach again, and then brought herself up to my face, kissing me before replying,

“Let’s go find out.” Kayleigh kissed me again before getting up and fixing her top, along with her jeans, and then opened the door to someone yelling ‘Drink!’ downstairs. I got up, retying the bathing suit stings, and followed her down the stairs, Erin was at the bottom laughing with Jaymes, he looked up the stairs as we came down

“Aha! They finally come out of their little lesbian hole!” I laughed at Jaymes, feeling Erin staring at me as we talked, then saw her sift gaze to my hand, Kayleigh had it wrapped around hers. Kayleigh pulled herself into me, almost pushing Erin out of the way,

“I’m gonna get something to drink, you want anything?” I nodded,

“Yeah, um, anything but beer is good.” She smiled, kissing me before letting go of my hand, nearly skipping down the hallway to the kitchen, Erin laughed as she watched Kayleigh,

“Already claimed the new girl, I see.” I smiled weakly at her comment, knowing it was a bash against both of us,

“Uh, yeah, guess so.” Jaymes kept looking back and forth from both of out faces, taking a sip from his cup each time,

“Well this is fun.” Erin snorted, trying to cover it up by a fake cough; I rolled my eyes hoping that Kayleigh would hurry up. We were all silent until she finally fame back, almost spilling the cups dodging people that were going the other way.

“Uh I didn’t know what you liked… so I mixed like five different things together, tastes pretty good.” Kayleigh handed me the cup, taking a drink from hers of what looked like the same concoction. I stared at her, trying not to smile,

“I have a feeling that you’re trying to get me drunk.” She smiled,

“Why on earth would I do that for? Hell, you’d come up there on your own will.” We all looked at Erin as she snorted again, Kayleigh set her jaw, tightening her hand on the stair railing, “I’m sorry, do you have a problem?” Erin took her cup away from her mouth, looking back from me to Kayleigh,

“Uhm, I’m pretty sure I don’t, thanks.” She put a bitchy tone to it, making Kayleigh only stare at her harder, she finally looked at me, and then grabbed my hand to lead me out to the kitchen.

“You went out with that bitch! Holy shit! I would’ve smacked her by now!” I smiled, downing the rest of my cup, holding my breath waiting for the burning to go away.

“She’s not usually like that, believe me. We definitely accomplished the whole jealousy thing.” Kayleigh sighed, staring at me desperately,

“Is this all we’re gonna do, make Erin jealous? I know it was my idea, but now I just feel like shit.” I grabbed her waist, letting all the distance between us fade away,

“What do you mean?” She squirmed in the grasp, stopping after a few seconds, realizing I wasn’t about to let her go anytime soon,

“I don’t just want to be some person you use to make someone jealous, I know it was my doing, and I know we just met…” I hugged her, she dropped her cup all over the floor, I felt the splash land all over my back. Kayleigh’s arms didn’t hug me back right away, they hung at her sides, finally putting them around my back, she let out a shaky sigh, “I needed that…” I closed my eyes, someone’s hand was on my shoulder, I let go of Kayleigh and turned around to Erin,

“Mattie, can I talk to you real quick?” Kayleigh sighed again, I turned back around giving her a smile before walking out the back door and through a wall of guys with Erin following me, her hand was on my shoulder again, “You’re just with her to get me jealous.” I picked her hand off my shoulder, throwing it back down to her side,

“No I’m not, you can’t just say something like that.” Erin scoffed,

“Oh c’mon! You call me to invite me to some new girl’s house, and you come from her bedroom all touchy? What the hell Mattie!” I matched her stance, feet spread apart, arms crossed in front of my stomach,

“You left me. You don’t get to play the jealousy card. I think the roles are a little messed up here, you think that me and Kayleigh are trying to make you jealous, when you’re the one making a big fuss over it? Get real Erin, find someone else who wants to listen to your bullshit, I don’t want to hear it anymore.” I walked past her, pushing through the wall of guys again and finally into the back door.

Kayleigh was drowning another cup while sitting on the counter, she smiled when I came back in,

“She wants you back, doesn’t she?” I stood in between her legs, pouring myself a drink, then emptying it as soon as it had been filled. I did it again, emptying my cup twice more before answering. I stumbled as soon as I had put the cup down, grabbing the counter I balanced myself.

“Probably, but I don’t want her.” She smiled, my words were slurred.

“You’re drunk; you don’t know what you want.” I leaned in, pushing her cup away from her mouth, she didn’t break eye contact,

“I know exactly what I want, this drink doesn’t change that.” Kayleigh threw her head up laughing,

“Yeah, except that you’ve had four of them, which might change it a little bit.” I shook my head the whole time she was talking,

“Fine, nothing changes what I want.” She laughed again, and then stopped when she saw my expression,

“You’re not kidding.” I shook my head,

“Not kidding.” She leaned forward, forehead against forehead, smiling.

“You’re cute when you’re drunk.” Her smiled turned into a gasp when liquid was dumped all over us, Erin was smiling behind Kayleigh, shaking whatever was left in the cup onto the floor.

“Erin! What the fuck!” She laughed one of those ‘I can’t believe you asked me that question’ laughs,

“Oh I’m sorry, you two looked like you needed another drink. Actually, Kayleigh looked like she needed another one; I don’t think she’s seen you, Mattie.” Kayleigh scoffed while getting off the counter, wiping her stomach free from the liquids,

“’Cause that’s not suspicious or anything! If you wanted to talk to us, you didn’t have to fucking dump shit all over us! God Damnit!” Erin laughed again,

“Like I would want to talk to your slutty ass. Hell, like I would want to talk to either of you now…” She pointed at Kayleigh, “…You’re just a whore…” Pointing at me, “…And you, you just… you’re fucking disgusting. I can’t even believe that when you called me, I thought you wanted to start again. How stupid… oh fuck you both!” We both watched as Erin ran through the hallway and out the front door, slamming it behind her.

Kayleigh sighed, grabbing another paper towel before leaning against the counter again to finish drying herself.

“I think it’s safe to say, she definitely wants you back.” I shook my head,

“She lost it, I’m sorry.” She laughed,

“Don’t be sorry, it’s okay. It’s not like you knew she was gonna do anything, you can’t control her.” My head was still shaking, soon my whole body followed it, tears finally made they’re way from my eyes.

“Mattie, it’s okay! It’s not your fault, oh babe, calm down.” She hugged me, rubbing my back as it were to comfort me. I didn’t even know why I was crying. We stood like that for a few minutes, people walked by looking and staring, I finally stepped back wiping my face with my hand.

“Wow, um… can we just forget that happened?” She nodded,

“I’m just gonna tell Jaymes to get everyone out, I think the party is over.” I didn’t make eye contact, but nodded at her statement, I looked up when she walked away, her back was still wet. Jaymes was yelling a few minutes later, telling people to grab their shit and get out, everyone groaned but did as they were told. I was still in the kitchen when everyone was gone, both Kayleigh and Jaymes came in at the same time, Jaymes sat in front of me swaying on the counter,

“You okay?” I pushed my hair back, I needed something to do, or I needed sleep.

“I’m fine, just tired and…I don’t know.” Kayleigh came over and put her arm around my waist,

“C’mon, we can clean up tomorrow, let’s just go to sleep. Jaymes you can sleep down here, or in my parents bed if you want, we’ll take my room.” Jaymes laughed to himself,

“Okay, I’ll follow you up there.” She led me up the stairs, helping me when I tripped going up,

“Let’s go drunky, going to sleep now.” I laughed, opening the door to her room,

“I’m not that drunk, you just wanna get me in bed.” Kayleigh pushed me onto the bed, and then rustled around in a box, pulling out two pairs of shorts,

“We’ve already gone over that, it’s not a big secret. Here put those on, it’ll be more comfortable.” She tossed me a pair; I pulled my pants off and put the shorts on, then got back into the bed with my back against the wall. I watched Kayleigh through closing eyes, and feeling like I was actually five feet above the bed, she put on the shorts, and then looked at herself in her bedroom mirror.

She got under the blanket facing me, her face was serious,

“Mattie, why were you crying?” I closed my eyes at her question,

“I don’t know, I think I was finally reacting to my parents.” Her hand smoothed my hair,

“What do you mean?” The five foot feeling went away, I was coming down the runway,

“They didn’t take it like I wanted…” I opened my eyes halfway, “…I wanted them to be mad. I wanted them to hate me.” She moved closer, kissing my forehead, then moved her hand to close my eyes,

“Go to sleep, you’ll feel better in the morning.” My drunken plane landed, landing gear in full swing, okay from the tower, all the baggage was lost inside my head.

How did we end up in your apartment?
Pocket full of gossip says this ain't smart
When it's all said and done can't hit restart
But I'll be damned if I don't wanna kiss you hard

This took waaaaaay too long.

OH, wicked influences from Atmosphere's new album,
"When Life Give You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold."

Craaaaazy emotional album, you ALL need to hear at least one song by them sometime soon. They're amazing.

Lyrics at the end are from 'Shoulda Known.'

Sorry its short, running on fumes right now.

I did what I had to do to get to the place,
Where your face wasnt such a blurry mess.
I took all our favorite promises and dreams that we kept,
You weren't hard to find, all it took was 13 steps.
